AmeriCorps is a national service movement with
roots in the Peace Corps and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).
AmeriCorps provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds
with an opportunity to address pressing community needs by completing a
year of service. In exchange for their service, AmeriCorps members
receive a small living allowance and an education award.
The Oregon Trail Chapter sponsors two AmeriCorps programs: the
Oregon State Service Corps (OSSC) and the Clara Barton VISTA Corps
(CBVC). OSSC and CBVC AmeriCorps members serve individually or in pairs
at non profit organizations, government agencies and schools throughout
the state of Oregon. The Oregon Trail Chapter also sponsered a
third program, Oregon Community Action Corps, that ran for the 2009-2010
service year and is now closed. OCAC AmeriCorps members served at
Community Action Agencies and their affiliates throughout Oregon.
The Oregon State Service Corps
currently has one position open (Job Council in Southern Oregon) for
the 2010-2011 year of service. We will be recuiting qualified candidates
for the 2011 - 2012 Year of Service in late spring of 2011!
