Maree Wacker is a recognized non-profit leader with 17 years of successful experience.
Wacker joined the Oregon Trail Chapter of the American Red Cross in
July 2005 as Chief Development & Communications Officer. After only
two weeks on the job, the organization responded to Hurricane Katrina,
and Wacker helped raise more than $14 million to help
survivors of this historic disaster.
As Chief Executive Officer, Wacker provides leadership for one of the
largest Red Cross chapters in the nation, with more than 100 staff, 500
volunteers and a $6 million operating budget. Additionally,
Wacker serves as the Regional Executive for the Red
Cross in Oregon, overseeing four other Oregon chapters
that collectively represent an additional $5 million in operations.
Wacker has raised nearly $70 million in her professional career.
Included in her accomplishments are raising $14.5 million for the new
Childrens Museum of Richmond in Virginia, which was recognized as one
of the Best Childrens Museums in the country by Child Magazine. She
also led the first capital campaign by the 125-year-old order of
Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon. While serving as the Executive Director
of the organizations Foundation, Wacker grew the assets from $2
million to more than $9 million in four years.
Wacker has served as the President of the Sherwood Education
Foundation Board, providing educational enrichment grants to Sherwood,
Oregon schools since 1998. She also serves as a member of the
Planned Giving Committee for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon
and SW Washington. She is a 2007 graduate of Leadership Portland.
Wacker was a Duke University Fellow and holds an M.A. from Duke in
Public Policy and a B.A. in Political Science from Washington State
University.
