Oregon Community Action Corps projects meet critical needs in Oregon's communities that have become even more pressing as a result of the economic crisis. AmeriCorps members with the Oregon Community Action Corps provide services through community action agencies and their partners in the areas of financial literacy, home foreclosure assistance, housing assistance, employment and skills training, access to fresh and healthy food, access to affordable healthcare, volunteer generation and agency capacity building.

The Oregon Community Action Corps (OCAC) is an AmeriCorps*State program funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (with additional funding from the Oregon Community Foundation) to place 24 full-time and seven part-time AmeriCorps members in Community Action Agencies across Oregon fighting poverty on the front lines for the 2009 - 2010 service term.

The Oregon Community Action Corps is administered by the American Red Cross - Oregon Trail Chapter and began as a partnership between the Oregon State Service Corps and the Community Action Partnership of Oregon.

Most full-time AmeriCorps positions with the OCAC started August 24, 2009 and will complete on July 15, 2010. Summer positions with OCAC start between May and June 2010 and will complete by early September 2010.
